The Berry Buffet: Native Plants That Feed Our Feathered Friends

Many seasons present challenges for birds, as the food sources they rely on are scarce. Fortunately, no matter where you live, you can provide berry-producing native shrubs and plants that support them in these tough times and throughout the year. Berries add beautiful bursts of color for you to enjoy while supporting your feathered friends.

Samantha Nestory, a passionate naturalist, serves at the Engagement Manager at Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden in Villanova, Pennsylvania. Sam studied ecology and entomology at the University of Delaware, and she is especially devoted to insect conservation, weaving together the stories of pollinators and plants to foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
